A Note From Our Senior Warden | A Joyful Week at St. Michael's

I’m struggling to come up with the words to describe what a joyful impact St. Michaels made on so many last week. So many volunteers contributed their time, creative talents and money to such wonderful events that provided fellowship and did such good for the community. It’s been long overdue, which made it even sweeter.
Thank you to Kim Curtis for organizing VBS, Knights of the North Castle, for the younger children in our community. What a fun journey as they looked for the king’s armor: The Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Justice, the Shoes of Peace, the Shield of Faith, and the Helmet of Salvation.
Kay Lewis, Paul Carrubba, and Judy Tammi led an amazing group of youth and adults all week on the Sturtz First Mission Work Week. Their hard work has resulted in quite a transformation at the Sturtz house. Please check it out. What a wonderful vision and a great way to involve so many in our community. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers.
And then there was Friday night! Ann Ryba and her 10 person Outreach team concocted the fantastical idea of a concert to raise money for 7 Barrington area charity partners and proceeded to find a venue, bring the band out of retirement and raise enough money to make a big difference to many in our community.
From my vantage point on stage with the band, it was so special to see people of all ages dancing, singing, smiling and having fun. A gift to the wider Barrington community, but also to the St. Michaels' community who so joyously reconnected. Thank you Outreach for your creativity, passion and leadership to make this happen. And a huge thank you to all of you who so generously donated to make this such an incredible success.
A special thanks to the professional musicians who donated their time and exceptional talents - Ron Bedal, Christy and Kraig McCreary. And to my fellow band members who made it so much fun to have live music again- Casey Mangan, Doug Torbeck, Al Johnson, Kay Lewis, Scott Kimes and Wes Kimes.
Finally, a thank you to Kathy Ward, who cheerfully volunteers in the church office and helps with so many daily tasks. I know she is a huge help to the other staff members, and we are so blessed to have her.
I know a few people have inquired about 128 Hillside. That was no easy task to get the required number of votes and I am so appreciative. The Diocese has approved the sale. We are in discussions with a potential buyer and will keep you posted.
These continue to be such uncertain times. Stay safe and let’s get through this together.
