Committee Responsibilities
Each year, a percentage of St. Michael’s operating budget (usually 10%) is designated for financial outreach. The grant allocation committee is responsible for soliciting and reviewing grant applications, prioritizing funding and recommending grants to the Vestry for approval.
The Grant Allocation Committee consists of 10-12 parishioners who meet at 2-3 times a year to review grant applications and make decisions consistent with St. Michael’s Outreach goals. The committee strives to balance grants among local, regional and international organizations.
In recent years, the committee has focused on organizations that provide vital services to people in crisis of all ages: feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, educating poverty-stricken youth and providing much needed mental health and pastoral services. Organizations such as Barrington Youth and Family Services, Feed My Starving Children, Porch de Salomon, and St. Cyprians Food Pantry. Click here for an overview of the 2024 Spring Grant Allocations.
