Several of our grant recipients have shared vidoes of how they are using funding from St. Michael's.  Please take the time to read about them and watch their summary of the impactful work each organization. 

 

Saint Leonard's Ministries empowers formerly incarcerated men and women to lead whole and productive lives. Learn more about Saint Leonard's programs and read about two program graduates who now work at Saint Leonard's:

Barrington Youth and Family Services provides a wide array of counseling services, outreach & preventative programming to young people and families. They also offer a variety of Latino services led by Spanish-speaking staff. This programming is specifically designed for the Latino community and is available to all families. Located in downtown Barrington at 118 Applebee Street. 

 

A long-time grant recipient, BYFS has received over $48,000 in grants over the past 10 years for programs supporting at-risk middle school students and subsidizing clinical services.

Chalice House
 provides housing while an immigrant’s case is pending so that families can stay together. In this shared project, the Interfaith Community for Detained Immigrants (ICDI) provides social services and support, while Countryside Church Unitarian Universalist and its partners provide housing and hospitality in a home owned by Countryside in Palatine, Illinois. 

 

Since 2018,St. Michael’s has granted $4000 to Chalice House to help cover the rental costs. 

 

 

 

Cumali works to empower the homeless by engaging with them where they live on Lower Wacker Drive in Chicago without judgment or prerequisite. Once a week on Mondays, volunteers provide hot meals, socks, underwear, blankets, coats and other clothing. They also provide a ministry of presence and fellowship.

Journeys the Road Home serves the homeless in the northwest suburbs by coordinating PADS overnight shelters and providing Pathways Housing Readiness Program.  There are 22 faith-based PADS locations supported by over 2500 volunteers who provide a safe place to sleep, meals and supportive services.  

 

Over the past ten years, St. Michael’s has granted $20,000 for Journey’s three major programs: emergency shelter, supportive services, and housing readiness.

  

Here some highlights about Journeys the Road Home and how they adapted to the Covid-19 from Todd Stull, Clinical Director:

 

 

Lawrence Hall is a community-based service agency embracing at-risk youth and their families by instilling resilience, healing and changing lives for good. They offer a workforce development program, a therapeutic day school, an acute residential care program and a transitional/independent living program for older adolescents.  Watch this video provided by Lawrence Hall:

 

 

Lawrence Hall greatly appreciates St. Michael’s history of support. How can you help? To meet materials needs, organize a Back-to-School Supply Drive in July or a Holiday Gift Drive in November by contacting Laryssa Sykes at . Prefer to share your time? Mentor one of our youth for just an hour a week by contacting Monique Davis at. And if you’ve ever been curious about becoming a foster parent, take your questions to Danielle Guzick at .

 

 

Porch de Salomon provides humanitarian relief to the indigenous people of Guatemala’s Lake Atitlan basin including food, clean water, school scholarships and counseling. They host short-term mission teams to build homes & community buildings and provide medical clinics.

 

Funds from St. Michael’s are used to buy milk, eggs and beans and provide medical care. Learn more about Porch de Salomon in their video:

 

 

 

Ravenswood Community Services provides food and supplies to their neighbors in the Ravenswood and surrounding neighborhoods in Chicago. They strive to offer services and connections to resources that help people realize health, stability and self- sufficiency. Every Tuesday night, they distribute fresh, nutritionally balanced groceries to 150-250 households.

 

Funds from St. Michael’s to cover costs associated with an increase in demand for meals including to-go containers, plastic utensils, bottled water and other packaging needs. Learn more about Ravenswood's work: 

 

 

 

Saint Leonard's Ministries has particular focus on providing permanent supportive housing to homeless individuals and families struggling with chronic addiction and/or mental health or physical disabilities.  ReVive Center prevents homelessness and restores hope. We come alongside the precariously housed to provide apartments, resources, expertise, and encouragement. Our work helps people stay in housing, set goals, and live life tothe fullest.
