A Note From Our Rector | Announcing a Parish Wide Zoom Meeting on July 11th
Hello everyone! I hope you have had a great Memorial Day Weekend, relaxing, having fun, and remembering the sacrifice of those who have given their lives in service of this great country which affords us these liberties. The Perkins family rested, grilled out, and visited the Brookfield Zoo- it was a great weekend!

Ann Kimes’ article last week, and if not, I recommend it to you. For in today’s Sword, I am, on behalf of the Wardens and Vestry, officially announcing a
Parish-wide Zoom meeting on July 11 at 12pm to discuss and vote on the sale of the house at 128 West Hillside Ave (Mother Lisa’s former residence). The Zoom information is below and will be in every Sword between now and July 11.
As our Senior Warden, Ann, mentioned last week, the Vestry has voted to sell the house at 128 West Hillside due to a lack of use (without a second priest), and also due to the needed maintenance on the house should we keep it. It is also true that the real estate market at the moment offers a fantastic opportunity to convert this asset into an invested fund, rather than property. I support this vestry decision, and we will tell you more about the factors that went into this decision during our Parish-wide meeting on July 11. Absentee voting (early voting) will be available.
There are many steps to selling property: first, is the vestry vote. Second, the parish must vote to sell the house with 2/3 voting in favor, which we hope to achieve at this meeting on July 11. We will need to count each vote, confirm you are an active member of the parish, and confirm that we have reached the 2/3 margin. Third, we must present our case and the parish-wide vote to the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Chicago for final approval to sell the house, which we hope to be a part of their July meeting, after a supporting parish vote. As the case may be, we already have a couple ready to make a bid on the property, should we get all of the votes needed!
