Ash Wednesday March 6

Each year the penitential season of Lent begins with a day of special devotion and discipline known as Ash Wednesday.

 

The traditional worship for this day is especially powerful and calls for the “imposition of ashes.” Parishioners are invited to come forward to receive the imprint of ashes on their foreheads as a sign of their mortality. In this stark way, we are put in mind of the difference between those things that are passing away and those things that endure forever.

 

Please join us as we enter into the season of Lent together at our Ash Wednesday worship opportunities and services:

 

6:30 a.m. - Ashes to GO (at the Barrington Train Station)

9:00 a.m. - Preschool Imposition of Ashes only

12:00 p.m. - Eucharist and Imposition of Ashes (no sermon)

6:30 p.m. - Eucharist and Imposition of Ashes (choir and sermon)

                         + Sunday School children meet in the chapel at 6:30 p.m.

                         + Childcare available at the 6:30 pm. service.
