There are many opportunities for all people to connect to St. Michael’s. After each Sunday service, there is a coffee hour available for fellowship. For certain events, such as the first Sundays in Advent and Lent, brunch is served, and special celebrations, such as Christmas and Easter, are observed with a festive time filled with food and fellowship.

There is always a place and need for your time and talents within our congregation. By clicking here, you will be connected to a page that will list our opportunities for you to join, or, to choose which opportunity fits your lifestyle and/or need to serve in some capacity.

You may also consider getting involved through one of our ministries. Click here to learn more about each ministry and to be able to send a message to the ministry leader to indicate your interest. There are three areas to choose from, which are, Worship, Fellowship and Outreach. We also publish a weekly newsletter, The eSword, which can be used to stay connected. Please join our mailing list to receive this electronic newsletter.

Adult Education (Formation)

Adult Education (Formation) at St. Michael’s is best defined as a way of helping men and women of the parish develop a relationship with God through the structure and teaching of the Church.  Through education we try to encourage our mutual vocations as Christians.  Our Adult Formation (Education) will start up again in the fall.  Announcements will be made on the website, in the newsletter and Sunday Bulletins as to time and location.

Conversations to nourish your soul . . . Who is God calling you to be?  What do you need to be that person?  What are your most pressing spiritual questions?  What will nourish you on the spiritual journey ahead?

Our Worship

St. Michael’s has two worship services, which are 8 am (Rite I) and 10 am (Rite II).

A powerful spirit pervades our worship services. These services are well-attended, and the congregation is intensely engaged. Our services, based on the Book of Common Prayer, are unique expressions of our faith, grounded in the same traditions as set forth by the National Church and Diocese of Chicago. There is a strong participation across the ministries of Acolytes, Altar Guild, Home Lay Eucharistic Ministers (HLEM), Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM), Lectors, Ushers, and Musicians.

Our Music

St. Michael’s has always placed a very high value on sacred music. This is apparent in the variety, quality and commitment to music in the liturgy, and to music as a means of spiritual understanding and growth.

St. Michael's Chancel Choir sings each Sunday at the 10 am Eucharist, September through May. The choir leads congregational singing of service music and hymns, and also prepares appropriate seasonal offertory anthems. High standards and goals are set for the group, which is comprised of volunteers with varying levels of ability. The choir’s offerings may include professional vocalists and instrumentalists on major feasts.

The Children's Choir is a powerful draw for young families. The choir contributes musical offerings throughout the school year and performs a musical drama each December.
